Kromtech Security researchers recently discovered that a misconfigured Amazon S3 repository publicly exposed the medical data of an estimated 150,000 people. Patient Home Monitoring, an in-home medical testing provider, reportedly used the repository to store 316,000 PDF files of patient information that included their first and last names, addresses, phone numbers, and blood test results. Doctors’ names, case management notes, and additional client information were also exposed. The NJCCIC recommends that patients affected by this breach monitor their credit and report any instances of suspected fraud to the Federal Trade Commission.
