More Malicious Apps Found in Google Play Store

Researcher Lukas Stefanko discovered nine apps in the Google Play store that contain adware meant to generate money for the apps’ developer, “Tools4TV.” The apps, advertised as remote controls for various electronics, hide in the background when launched and begin displaying ads. The apps have since been removed from the Play store. The NJCCIC advises users who downloaded the affected apps to promptly uninstall them; a list of the malicious apps can be found in the Bleeping Computer article.
